International Conference DOXPRO-2013
DOXPRO - the International Program for documentary professionals, a platform for networking, training, the exchange of experiences and information.
The goals of the Program are: to facilitate economic and cultural cooperation between Russian and European documentary professionals, to create a wholesome environment for development of documentary as a creative industry in Russia.
The modern world with its IT-technologies is changing very fast. Today people perceive reality differently than a few years ago. Cultural and creative industries face new requirements. Old schemes do not work anymore or became less efficient, new forms of content and new ways of distribution appeared.
The economic crisis calls for international cooperation and collaboration to make qualitative cultural products.
To match the market filmmakers should consider its demands, be aware of the current possibilities in distribution and financing of international creative documentary projects; realize the trends; learn successful experience of innovative approaches, and to apply the obtained knowledge.
The International Conference "Financing of international creative documentary projects in the Northern Dimension area: cutting edge and trends" will bring documentary professionals together to exchange information, experience, and ideas; to research the market of creative documentary in the Northern Dimension area, and to identify common interests, common problems and the existing sources of funding for documentary projects in the region.
We hope that this knowledge and information will help professionals create new documentary projects that meet today's needs.
The Conference will be held within the frameworks of The XXIII International Documentary, Short, and Animated Film Festival "Message to Man" and "Nordic Weeks in St.Petersburg". The audience will be expanded by simultaneous webinar available for professionals from the whole Northern Dimension area. The languages of the Conference will be Russian and English with two-way simultaneous translation also available for online participants.
THE CONFERENCE MODERATORS:
TUE STEEN MÜLLER
A prominent and a well-known expert in the world of documentary. From 1975-1996 he was employed at the National Film Board of Denmark (Statens Filmcentral) as press secretary, distributor, festival manager, film consultant and spindoctor for various directors of the organisation. He was part of the team behind the Balticum Film/TV Festival on Bornholm Denmark 1990-2000 as well as the set-up of Filmkontakt Nord, Documentary and the EDN (European Documentary Network) of which he was the first director 1996-2005. Got the (Jørgen) Roos Award for his contribution to Danish and European documentary in 2005. Since 2006 free lance consultant and teacher in documentary matters all over the world.
MIKAEL OPSTRUP, EDN Head of Studies
A dedicated documentarist since his first S-8mm documentary in 1977. Most of the 80’s Mikael worked with distribution and theatrical release of documentaries. Producer of international documentaries since the 90’s. Production Adviser at The Danish Film Institute 1998-2002. From 2002 - 2008 co-owner of Final Cut Productions in Copenhagen. Board member of EDN 2005 –2008, the last year as Chairman.

DOXPRO - is a platform for international networking of documentary professionals, training, and exchange of experience and information.
This Program was initiated by MIRADOX.RU and NordWestFilm.
MIRADOX.RU is the first Russian open and independent resource for documentary professionals and an electronic mass media devoted to documentaries. The users of MIRADOX.RU are: film directors, producers, scriptwriters, sound engineers, production companies, film festivals etc. The number of users is about 2000 at the moment.
NordWestFilm is a documentary production center located in St.Petersburg. It was founded in 2002 and produced more than 50 documentaries since then. A number of films awarded prizes and diplomas at domestic and international film festivals.
